About ACFT
The Alberta Centre for Toxicology (ACFT) is a public health toxicology laboratory, accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. It is under the direction of Health Surveillance, Alberta Health (AH) and administered by the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine. The ACFT provides analytical testing services in support of various provincial programs and activities, including:
- AHS drug treatment programs
- Unregulated water quality testing
- The Alberta Biomonitoring Program
- The Alberta Beach Monitoring Program (Microcystin testing)
- Fish mercury angling advisories
- Support for academic research activities
